About the Course
Location: In person/Virtual
Students engage in self-destructive behaviors as a means of coping. Helping students to break free of these unhealthy behaviors can be challenging and disruptive within the classroom setting.This session will focus on specific strategies that can assist teachers as they teach students self awareness, healthy coping strategies and create opportunity for positive decision making.
This session is designed for special education teachers, mental health workers, school and district leaders who interact with students to provide safety and emotional support.
Objectives:
Understand how to guide students in identifying internal and external triggers
Teach staff to recognize precursors to self-destructive behaviors
Learn practical interventions to implement when students exhibit self-destructive behaviors
